The failure of the Conseil scolaire de langue française d’Ottawa-Carleton does not put an end to the old dream of a merger between Francophone Catholic and public schools in the region. But the project is still controversial. Some argue that duplication should be avoided because it threatens to reduce the programs and activities offered in French schools. Others continue to argue that Catholic schools have a culture of their own.
