Ottawa’s last born Francophone parish

The parish of Sainte-Marie is founded in September 1987, with the first masses celebrated at the Reine-des-Bois Catholic elementary school in Orléans. The need for larger and more permanent facilities is rapidly felt in this fast-growing Francophone suburb. The church of Sainte-Marie is finally inaugurated in June 1998, during a celebration officiated by Bishop Marcel Gervais.
